Nannine Clay Wallis Arboretum

Historic Gardens & Timeless Architecture

Nestled in the heart of Paris, Kentucky, the Nannine Clay Wallis Arboretum offers filmmakers a picturesque combination of historic architecture and carefully cultivated gardens. The approximately four-acre property surrounds the Wallis House, an elegant Greek Revival residence dating to 1851, and features an impressive collection of mature trees, ornamental plantings, and landscaped outdoor spaces.

With its secluded garden atmosphere and historic residential setting, the arboretum offers a versatile backdrop for period productions, intimate outdoor scenes, and stories calling for the character of a traditional Southern garden estate.

Gardens & Landscaped Grounds

The arboretum’s horticultural history stretches back to the 1850s, when some of its earliest trees were planted. Developed over generations, the grounds feature mature specimen trees, flowering gardens, and thoughtfully arranged landscaped spaces.

A rose garden, herb garden, reflecting pool, and garden pavilion provide a variety of distinct outdoor settings within the property. The combination of towering trees, seasonal blooms, and quiet garden spaces offers filmmakers opportunities for scenic establishing shots, contemplative scenes, and elegant outdoor gatherings.

The Historic Wallis House

Built in 1851, the Wallis House is a distinguished example of Greek Revival residential architecture and the historic centerpiece of the arboretum. Its classical architectural character and surrounding gardens evoke the elegance of a mid-19th-century Kentucky estate.

Now serving as the headquarters of the Garden Club of Kentucky, the house provides an additional architectural backdrop that complements the natural beauty of the grounds. Together, the residence and gardens create a setting with both historic significance and visual versatility.
